Cryptic Masonry, otherwise known as the Royal and Select Masters, is one of the higher Orders of the York Rite of Freemasonry. The expression “Cryptic Masonry” translates as “Masonry of the Secret Vault.”

The broken triangle symbolizes the imperfection, loss and unhappy dissolution caused by the untimely death of one of the Illustrious three.
